Though Dal and Rice is the ultimate comfort food for most of the Indians, it wasn’t the case with me till a few years ago. I blame the way too watery dal curry (calling it a curry would be a crime) served in my hostel for the same.
For me, Dal was always synonymous with the “Parippu chaaru” (Dal gravy) that we make at home. I love that curry. That Parippu chaaru with some rice, drizzled ghee and fried pappadoms on the side, is guaranteed to make you a happy soul.
It’s been only a few years that I’ve discovered the versatility of dal, you can use it to make curries, burgers, dips, koftas, the list is endless! These days, I make sure to stock up at least 3-4 different types of dals at home.
