Apple Streusel Muffins

  • 1 1/2 cups Plain flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder refer notes
  • 1/2 cup Sugar refer notes
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp Milk
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter 57 gms, melted
  • 2 med - big Apples peeled and diced ( I used 2 red eating apples)

For the streusel

  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon ) (refer notes)
  • 2 tbsp Butter 28 gms, melted


  1. Preheat oven to 180 C, 10 mins before baking.
  2. Mix together the streusel ingredients and keep aside.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry, and stir just until combined.
  4. Fold in the apples. Pour into lined muffin cups and sprinkle the streusel topping over each muffin.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 mins.

Recipe Notes

I used only 1 3/4 tsp baking powder for the above qty. I used same qty of light brown sugar, instead of white sugar, for the cake batter. I used only 1/4 tsp cinnamon in streusel topping.

You will get 12 muffins from the above qty. It can be stored at room temp for 2-3 days in an airtight container.
