Chilli Prawns / Shrimp

It's been a long time, since I have posted a non veg recipe. I was just being loyal to my tried & tested recipes. I came across this recipe in a cookery show. Its a dry preparation which can be used as starters or can be a side dish with friedrice. You can also make fish in the same way.

Chilli Prawns / Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 500 gms Cleaned prawns
  • 3 tbsp Plain flour
  • 3 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 tbsp Crushed Pepper
  • 1 Egg white
  • Salt
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 tbsp each Chopped Ginger & garlic
  • 1 small Capsicum
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Spring onion
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Crushed pepper
  • 1 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp Tomato sauce
  • Salt
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Mix together plain flour, corn flour, crushed pepper (1 tbsp), egg white and salt, with a little water and make a thick paste. Marinate the prawns in this paste for 20 minutes.
  • Fry the prawns and keep it aside. In the same oil saute ginger,garlic & chopped onion. When the onion becomes soft add capsicum & spring onion. Saute for 5 minutes & add chilli powder & crushed pepper. Mix well.
  • Add the sauces & salt. Stir for a few minutes and add the fried prawns. Mix well.Cook for some more minutes till it becomes dry. Garnish with spring onion.

  5. Hi Maria, Just wanted to give u a tip to specify Plain flour as maida in the recipe itself cos me being the mandi and the beginner cook that i am used atta!and then i scrolled down and saw the comments!

  6. Hi maria….dint make this for quite long time now….I have left a comment here long before i started a blog, u can see that:)….naale oru potluck party undu. Iam making this…i remember i made this for a party before and everyone loved this to the core……mumbu oru regular aayirunnu ithu….then i forgot about it……pinney madiyum….maria,i wanted ask you, have u used the measuring spoon for measuring the sauce and the prawns weight-is it after cleaning?.I know i shouldnt ask this since i cook regularly and very often….Pinney there are 10 adults and 5 kids for the potluck….a bit nervous….athaa. .Reply as soon as u can ok…

      njanum ee recipide kaaryam actually marannu poyi :) mikkvarum prawns roast or prawns olathiyathu undakkum so…

      the weight of prawns is after cleaning. I used measuring spoon (approx). looks like a major party, kollalo. enjoy and have fun :)

  9. I tried this receipe. It came awesome. When I cooked I thought I have made lot of prawns and was thinking there will be left over. But my friends and family finished it in a jiffy

    I tried this one and it came out so very well!!my husband really liked it….he loves prawns and he wanted me to try something else apart from my usual curry stuff….and thot of this one….its perfect…thx alot……i came to ur blog thru the site pachakam.com…and iam a regular visiter of ur blog now…..mouthwatering pictures u got in it…dint try ur lemon drizzle cake yet…..shud try that one…thanks once again!!
